"Here Comes The King"

To celebrate Palm Sunday the combined congregations of St. Mary's joined together in a special service, called "Here Comes the King"

The Story of Jesus' Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem and subsequent events was written as a drama by Priscilla Sarton.

The drama was performed at our 10.30 am Palm Sunday service by members of St. Mary's Northiam Congregation and Messy Church. 

We were taken through the glorious events of Palm Sunday with the children from Messy Church parading down the aisle waving palms and shouting 

"Hosanna to the King of Kings!"

           The subsequent clearing of the Temple of traders by Our Lord

Merchants on their way to money lend and sell birds of sacrifice in the Temple.


Caiaphas and the pharisees plot to have Jesus arrested

and the scheming of Caiaphas and the Jewish elders to bring Jesus to trial before Pontius Pilot.

Judas shows regret for betraying Our Lord

Judas with his silver reward and showing remorse

The cross was raised and the events of the crucifixion portrayed with Mary's tearful reaction reenacted.

Jesus was laid in the tomb 

The body of Jesus is taken and laid in the tomb

Children brought flowers to the tomb

Each child brought a posy to the tomb

and this was followed by a time of quiet reflection.
